At Lumina Education, we believe that exceptional education should be built on more than textbooks and generic advice. It should come from people who have done it themselves.

Lumina was founded by First Class graduates from the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, bringing together years of experience in education, admissions and academic mentoring. We’ve sat the exams, navigated the university application process, made the mistakes, discovered what actually works - and spent thousands of hours helping other students do the same.

We created Lumina to share those lessons.

Built to make a difference.

Our tutors aren’t simply experts in their subjects. They understand what it is actually like to be a student working towards a highly competitive exam or university application. Our TMUA tutors include students who have achieved 9.0 - the maximum possible TMUA score or S in STEP II and III (one of our tutors scored highest in the world in both STEP II and III). They have sat the exam themselves, worked through countless questions and refined the strategies that make a genuine difference under time pressure.

That means our teaching goes beyond “here’s how to solve this question.” We show you how to think about the question, what to look for, which approaches are most efficient, where students commonly go wrong, and the techniques that experienced candidates learn through doing hundreds of problems themselves.

These are the insights we wish we had when we were preparing. Now, we pass them on to you.

Beyond the Mark Scheme

Our experience extends far beyond the classroom. Across our tutoring and admissions work, we have supported students from across the UK, France, China, India and beyond, delivering thousands of hours of teaching and mentoring across GCSE, A-Level, university admissions and competitive entrance examinations.

During the 2025 - 26 university application cycle alone, we supported and edited applications and personal statements for more than 300 students - helping students turn their experiences, ambitions and ideas into applications that genuinely represented them.

Alongside our tutoring and admissions support, we have created academic resources used by students around the world. Our team has authored 14+ GCSE and A-Level revision guides, alongside admissions and exam-preparation resources designed to make difficult concepts clearer, more accessible and easier to apply.

We don’t believe in creating resources simply to add more content. We focus on what actually helps students improve - the patterns to recognise, the techniques worth remembering, the mistakes worth avoiding and the methods that make challenging problems feel manageable. You'll see this quality in the resources that we provide post-bootcamp too!
